That's true. However, what you're looking at in the pictures is peak brightness. I'm going to dim the displays after about 5-10 seconds of inactivity because the power supply gets pretty hot with the displays on continuously at full brightness.

I did torture test it yesterday in a parked car in 95 degree weather in full sun and it kept working at full brightness with no problems, but I think the dimming is still a good idea.

So, while you are pushing buttons and setting things, the display will be full on so that you can see the display, even in direct sunlight. Once you are done with settings it will dim down into a run mode that shouldn't blind you at night.

Unfortunately, I don't have any way of dimming the HOM LED as well, since the PCM is driving that.... hmmm...
