Having the MS control the coils is no different (in the view of the stock ecu) as installing an MSD. Since the ECU is not directly connected to the coils you need something in there to simulate a load.

A tach adapter doesn't control the coil at all. It simply reads resistance in the voltage to calculate RPM.
I think what shawn is trying to say, unless I am reading his statement wrong, is that if you have a tach driver and leave it connected to your factory wiring, it wont set off a code causing your injectors to missfire.
I don't really see the point of it in the first place, since the ASD is bypassed and have no control in the first place.
BTW... is anyone out there running an independent spark harness such as myself, giving the coil a direct 12v source rather than the PCM source?
