But anyway, how mechanically inclined are you? Putting on springs isn't hard at all, depending on how experienced you are at working on cars. You don't need experience at doing it really, you just need to not be afraid of taking it apart. If you have a good socket set, that's all you need except for a spring compressor. You can rent one at Auto Zone or Checkers. All you need to do is get the car in the air, jack stands will do. The struts attach with 3 nuts at the top, and 2 big ones at the bottom. After you get them off, compress the springs, and then remove the top hats from the struts. You need a way to keep the strut shaft in place while removing the nut at the top of the top hat. I used vice grips, some people say don't use them because it nicks the strut shaft, but it's at the top where the shaft doesn't enter the strut body anyway. Replace your springs, and put everything back together the way it came apart. Then get the car aligned.
