Almost all nitrous kit manufacturers recommend using any auto trans when using nitrous anyway. Nitrous causes clutches to slip and axles to break on a manual.
so even though it's spraying when it's shifting it wont make a differnce? i thought that might put more strain/stress on the tranny...... i guess im wrong
As long as the clutchpacks in the auto are strong enough to grab after a shift, you'll be fine.
Some autos seem to put down much less power when using nitrous because they weren't built from the factory to hold that much more torque/power. The torque converter will start to slip and you won't be accelerating. Most of the time, a couple of small upgrades will do the trick, but on a truck, I don't think you'll have to worry about the upgrades since they were built to handle heavy loads.
