My thoughts?

Even though I started this thread, I've come to realize I'd NEVER buy a 3147 simply because you can't buy them from AGP anymore, and AGP adamantly refuses to disclose what parts they used to make these. Lets say one wears out... since you bought a proprietary, one-off "house special" turbo, you're screwed. Since they won't tell anyone what parts are inside of it, AGP is the only place that can help you. You can't buy a replacement 3147 because they don't make them anymore (AGP says it's because they can't get the parts anymore). Obviously, if they don't have the parts to make any, they won't have any parts to fix them, either.

If you do get them to fix a 3147, you won't be able to drive your car for a while. No, you have to wait for shipping both ways, and the time it takes them to locate the secret rare parts and fix the turbo. Then after all that hassle you put them through, you're forced to pay whatever they say, and lets face it... AGP is expensive. At this point you're probably better off buying a different turbo instead, making this whole investment a bad one.

I'm skipping all this drama, and from the get-go I'll be buying a turbo made with industry standard parts that aren't a "secret recipe." I want to be able to have the peace of mind knowing I can shop around for fair deals on replacement parts, or have the ability to go to any turbo shop and get back on the road ASAP. I'm not willing to risk being stuck in this shit situation.

The same goes with the Stage 3 turbo. Even though appearing factory gets my rocks off, as much as I hate to say it, there's no way I'm spending that much on a proprietary turbo with zero warranty, no factory service parts, and such a terrible reputation for chipped turbine wheels and massively cracked turbine housings.
