take a straw and dip it in water. Take your thumb and put it over the other end of the straw and see if the water falls out.
vacuum cant open the valve, the water cant come out. this is why our new trunk mount kits can have 15 feet of hose after the checkvalve and stop spraying with in a split second and start spraying instantly. water stays in the line.

Oh, I would think that once engine vacuum sucks in through the nozzle(s) it would empty out the line.
