Default External voltage regulator

I just purchased a Megasquirt for my 420a, and realized that I will need an external voltage regulator for my alternator. From what I understand, the stock ECU controls the voltage...and since that is being eliminated from the car...I need to get the external.

This is becoming a hassle of sorts, as from what I know I can only get this from vehicles pre-late 80s. For those that have been successful in implementing this system, where did you get your voltage regulator from? I’m hoping there is an easier way then digging through various Junkyards looking for a Colt or worse.
