PHOTO: Bob Woodhouse followed up his Sebring podium with another strong finish at St. Pete. Bob finished 5th and for the second race in a row he came across the line just in front of James Sofronas. Woodhouse is 3rd in points but 1 slim point behind 2005 champ Andy Pilgrim.
Hugh Stewart is OK after St. Pete crash
The most important late breaking news of the St. Pete weekend was that Hugh Stewart was checked out and found to be in good health after his huge crash at the start of the Touring Car race. Hugh voluntarily had himself sent to the hospital to be sure.
Unfortunately not the same can be said for his Speedtechnik Dodge SRT-4 which was severely bent as it backed into the cement barriers very hard. The impact was hard enough to make a huge indentation on the wall.
In the tower it looked as if Stewart's car accelerated across the track but Hugh was said to have reported that the SRT-4 had simply lost the brakes after colliding with the wall on the inside. I guess that is how the telephoto TV cameras can skew our perspective as it looked as if Hugh's car was almost stopped against the inside wall when it suddenly shot across the track.
