Hmm... Well, the LED shows if the unit is enabled or not. It will also flash 2 times when you hold down the button to clear codes (on the premium edition). Aside from that, it will flash out error codes if there is a problem with the installation or if you try and use the unit on a non-SRT4 car or a different car (vin number) than it was initially used on....

Basically, once you have it installed, you should never need to see the status of the LED, unless you turn the unit on or off.

Also, it defaults to ON when the unit boots. That happens when you pull the battery.

So, the LED is mainly for debugging. I think most people will never need to look at it once it is initially setup and running.
