Default Rust is micro-deep on the surface only

IF some rust occurs (or light oxidation or discoloring) on a torsion bar, the damage is only to the appearance. Years ago, a popular sway bar company, Turn-6, made anti-sway bars (torsion bar is the correct term) with a very BRIGHT and distinctive YELLOW paint color. After a few years, the yellow was inevitably covered with road film, dust, oil, petro-goo, and tar. The same thing will happen with the red protective coating on your new bars. Don't worry about the metal becoming fatigued due to some light rust or such. Railroad tracks have had a bit of rust on them for the last 150 years and they still work just fine, as does the occasional rusty wrench. Rust stops at the surface. Your SRT will be in a junkyard before your torsion bar shows any measurable decline in stiffness due to rust or surface oxidation.
