Sure the factory setup works, but when we tried to run more boost, the BOV would crack open. Think about it for a min. Why is there a solenoid to control a BOV/BPV? Typically you need 2 vacuume sources:1 before the throttle body and one after. When you are WOT the pressure is the same on both sides of the BPV diaphram therefor the spring pressure keeps it shut. When you close throttle on boost, there is a huge difference between the vacuume on one side and boost on the other. The force of the spring is overcome and the valve pops open. This method works great and is pretty much fool proof. What reason would the factory have to put a solenoid in the mix? 1 big reason, to spoil the fun and to keep the bozos out there from blowing up their motors. When the ECU realizes that it can not control boost via the wastegate it will resort to cracking open the BPV. We have tested this over and over again and everytime the BPV would open above 17psi when set with the MBC. This isn't holy grail of info. This is just what we found with our research.
